Guillermo Turcios was born in a small village ‘El Caserio El Mango La Union, El Salvador. Guillermo was always fascinated with music and the radio industry. He knew he would have to leave his roots of El Salvador to achieve his dreams! The year 1980 is when he lands in the great state of Texas… Houston to be exact, and gets to work.
Except, not in the work you might think. Besides loving music and radio, Guillermo was a tailor. Yes! A tailor. He was taught from a young age how to sew and tailor clothes and that’s how he began his life in the states. He simply had to do what he had to do but never lost sight of his ultimate goal, which was to be part of the radio industry.
1990 would be the year Guillermo would get his opportunity and bring to life the character of “El Chero” on KXYZ Radio 13. Due to the acceptance of the character of, ”El Chero” the show “Aqui Centro America” arises and aired on October 1993. He soon started to gain popularity from his nickname “El Chero”. He trademarked the name and started using it on various radio shows like La Tremenda and ESPN from 1993-Present. At the same time of being part of great radio shows, he also opened his tailor business and received great success. He was a tailor master but, “El Chero” was who took action in the radio shows!
